Want to celebrate America’s birthday with a one of a kind Independence Day experience? Join us at Hisega Adventure Lodge for the best 4th of July celebration around.

There’s nothing wrong with hanging out by the pool and watching fireworks, but if you’re looking for something a little more adventurous for Independence Day weekend, we’ve got you covered.

We have miles of fun plans in store, including riding some of the best trails the Black Hills National Forest has to offer, fireside dinner and drinks, hiking to unique views of Mount Rushmore, and enjoying dinner and drinks while exploring Pactola Lake via pontoon boat.

Spend Independence Day weekend at Hisega Adventure Lodge

Even with all the fun we’ve got planned, you’ll have plenty of time to kick back and relax on the deck or enjoy coffee in the lounge. This is your holiday weekend, we’re just here to make it as enjoyable as possible.

Arrival: Thursday
Check in starts at 2 PM. Get settled into your accommodations and then get to know your fellow guests over a reception dinner and drinks that evening.

Day 1: Friday
The first day of your adventure starts with a group breakfast and fresh roasted coffee. Early risers are welcome to participate in an optional morning yoga class before breakfast. We'll ride that morning, enjoy lunch on the trail, and finish the afternoon with another fun group ride. After returning to the lodge, take a little time to rest or clean up, and join us for a fireside barbecue and outdoor movie.

Day 2: Saturday the 4th
Join us for early morning yoga on the 4th of July, or sleep late and catch up over breakfast and fresh roasted coffee. Then we'll load up the bikes again and head to another trailhead. We'll enjoy lunch on the trail before meeting back up with the shuttle and trading bikes for hiking boots. We'll hit the trail on foot and enjoy a lovely hike with views of Mount Rushmore, and then enjoy an outdoor dinner with scenic sunset views. We'll return to the trailhead and return to the Hisega Adventure Lodge for the night.

Day 3: Sunday
It's another great day at Hisega Adventure Lodge — enjoy optional early morning yoga, followed by delicious breakfast and fresh roasted coffee. Afterwards we'll load up our bikes and spend the morning riding the Centennial Trail. We'll take lunch on the trail before riding to Pactola Lake. Here we'll leave the trail behind and hit the water. We'll spend the afternoon and early evening experiencing Pactola via pontoon boat. Enjoy dinner and drinks on the water before returning to shore and heading back to the lodge for the night.

Check out: Monday
The final day of your visit starts with a group breakfast and fresh roasted coffee. Early risers are welcome to participate in our last morning yoga class before breakfast. Enjoy time in the common areas socializing and saying good-bye to your fellow travelers. Check out is at 11:00am.

Tips to improve your experience:
Though we're not riding non-stop, three consecutive days on the bike can be challenging for many riders. We will have a guide in the front, as well as a sweeper in the back, so you can ride at your own pace. Don't stress how fast you can ride or hike on our outings. Enjoy the holiday weekend!

Location:
Our adventures are all based out of the Hisega Adventure Lodge, a 111 year old lodge in the easternmost district of the Black Hills National Forest, twenty minutes from Rapid City Center. Here you can enjoy the sights and sounds of nature — the wind blowing through the ponderosa pines and the relaxing babble of Rapid Creek as it flows along the property. Our group rides all take place in the beautiful Black Hills National Forest, on designated trails. We provide transportation to and from all trailheads during your stay.

Getting here:
Hisega Adventure Lodge is located at 23101 Triangle Trail, Rapid City, SD 57702. The nearest airport, the Rapid City Regional Airport, is located 25 miles east of the Lodge. Transportation to and from the airport is available to all guests. For guests who choose to drive to the lodge, here are directions from well-known locations.
Sioux Falls, SD:
Take I-90 W 345 miles to Rapid City, then take exit 57 for I-190 S/US-16 W toward Black Hills National Forest/Mt. Rushmore/Downtown Rapid City. Stay on this road for roughly 1.5 miles, then turn right onto West Main St. In 5 miles, turn turn left onto Jackson Blvd/SD-44. You'll stay on this road for 9.3 miles. You'll see a sign for Hisega Lodge, and will turn left onto Hisega Rd. Continue for 1.3 miles until you come to a T intersection. Take a left here, and you'll see the lodge on your right.
Minneapolis, MN:
Head out of Minneapolis on US-169 S. Take this for approximately 73 miles, then continue straight onto MN-60 W for 87 miles, then turn right onto I-90. Stay on I-90 for 399 miles then take exit 57 for I-190 S/US-16 W toward Black Hills National Forest/Mt. Rushmore/Downtown Rapid City. Stay on this road for roughly 1.5 miles, then turn right onto West Main St. In 5 miles, turn turn left onto Jackson Blvd/SD-44. You'll stay on this road for 9.3 miles. You'll see a sign for Hisega Lodge, and will turn left onto Hisega Rd. Continue for 1.3 miles until you come to a T intersection. Take a left here, and you'll see the lodge on your right.
Denver, CO:
Head North on I-25 N. You'll stay on this for around 110 miles. You'll enter Wyoming, pass Cheyenne, then take exit 17 for US-85 N toward Torrington. Stay on US-85 N (which will merge with US-18 E at Lusk, WY) for 178 miles. Then turn right to stay on US-18 E and head into South Dakota. Stay on US-18 E for 34 miles, then turn left onto SD-89 N. Continue on SD-89 N for 57 miles, merging with US-385 N at Pringle, SD and US-16 E at Custer. Turn right onto SD-44 E and drive 7.7 miles, then turn right onto Hisega Road. Continue for 1.3 miles until you come to a T intersection. Take a left here, and you'll see the lodge on your right.
